FAQ's
How many edge guards come with each order?
Each order includes one edge guard. Unlike traditional edge tape that may need frequent replacement, Vinyl Styles Edge Guards are designed to last for months—not just weeks—with normal use.
What Size Should I Choose for My Paddle?
We know picking the right size edge guard can feel a little tricky, so here’s a simple guide to help you.
- Medium (0.875): A great fit for paddles that are 12-14 mm thick.
-
Large (0.950): Perfect for 16 mm paddles
Got a Selkirk Boomstik?
Select Size: Boomstik
Notice: The Boomstik does not receive full wrap-around protection.
Due to the factory-textured edge guard and sharp 90° edge design, wider edge guards do not adhere reliably when wrapped onto the face of the paddle.
Our Boomstik size is custom-cut slightly narrower to maximize adhesion, durability, and long-term performance while still protecting the top edge where it matters most.
If you’re not quite sure which size to choose or if your paddle is in between sizes, no problem at all! Just drop us a note with your paddle’s exact thickness, and we’ll help you pick the perfect fit.
Because paddle manufacturers use different standards for reporting core and edge-guard thickness, sizing can vary slightly between brands. We’re consistently updating and refining our guide as we collect more real-world measurements to give you the most accurate recommendations possible.
Can I apply lead or tungsten tape on top of the edge guards?
Yes, you definitely can. In fact, we recommend placing your lead or tungsten tape directly on the paddle first to get your preferred weight and balance. Once you’re happy with the feel, just apply our edge guard right over the tape.
Our edge guards adhere really well on top of the lead or tungsten tape, so everything stays secure and you get a smooth finish. It’s a simple way to customize your paddle’s weight without any hassle.
Paddle Surface & Adhesion Note
Every paddle is built a little differently. Surface texture, edge shape, factory coatings, and prior tape residue can all affect how an edge guard adheres from paddle to paddle.
Our edge guards have been tested to fit and install well on most paddles without issue, but some paddles may require extra care during installation, and occasional adhesion challenges can happen depending on the paddle’s surface or condition.
For best results, clean the edge thoroughly before installing and apply firm, even pressure around the entire edge.
