This is normal and does not damage the paddle. The remaining black adhesive layer can typically be rolled off easily with your fingers, leaving a clean surface.

“I’ve tried two different versions of Lyle’s edge guards on two different paddles, and I’ve been really impressed with their durability. The quality is far above anything I’ve used before. Other products I’ve tried in the past felt like little more than electrical tape — they scuffed, chipped, or dented within just a couple weeks of play.
